Changing jobs during my wife's spouse visa application

Post by Ross1978 » Thu May 31, 2018 8:56 pm

Hi guys,

I'm for some advice on this life changing matter. We started my wife's spouse application about 3 weeks ago.

I'm not happy in my current place of work.

There is another opportunity come up, where it looks like i will be short listed for interview. It's earning 7K a year more, longer days but 4 days off after 4 days work. Sounds great.

Can I change jobs during the application or will it give them a reason to refuse the application.

I would really appreciate some wisdom on this.

Best wishes
Ross

7K more wages with 4 days off is indeed a good opportunity to avail. Usually the documents till the date of application matters but if the HO try to contact your previous employer then might delay/refuse your application by mistake. Therefore, best would be to update HO with new job while requesting to consider your old job documents.

Hi Seagul,

Many thanks for your reply, I really do appreciate it.

Do I send a covering letter plus documents about new job to the same address in Sheffield that I sent our supporting documents to?

Thanks again.
Ross

In my opinion it will depend on individual caseworker as how familiar he/she is with spouse visa legal requirements & got common sense. Based on common sense you simply send a covering letter along with new job contract to update them with your new job. However, it will depend on caseworker as how he/she take that new information and if you search the forum then a lot members suffered from their silly mistakes and the most popular one where the members send additional information but they didn't link it with their original bundles or taken the decision with new additional information. Therefore, wiser will be either to sacrifice/delay new opportunity or take such risk in sending new job contract with the hope of being dealt with good caseworker.

Thanks Seagul.

I spoke to a lawyer from IAS and they have advised me to send a covering letter, the last 12 months of wage slips and bank statements and contract of employment from new employer.

My new employer want me to start in 1 weeks time, I'm on 1 week notice period so I will start new job in 1 week.

So I should be able to get letter and docs to Ho within a couple of working days of me finishing my old job.

I'm totally unhappy in my current job and this is a lot better paid, it's too good opportunity to turn down.

Keep your fingers crossed for me.

I will report back on here, how it goes. For future reference for other people who get into this situation.
