Can I invite my new partner ?

Post by sirbrizzy » Mon Jun 04, 2018 11:41 am

Can I be able to invite my new partner to the uk even when I’m still legally married in the uk? Well we are separated and currently waiting for the court to issue our divorce certificate.

What is your immigration status?

How long have you known your 'new partner'?

Have you physically met your new partner?

What visa were you thinking of when you say 'inviting my new partner'?

Thank you for your reply. I’m British and yes I have met her. We are even married back home ( engagement) but I can’t marry her legally until I get my certificate. I have no idea of what visa to apply. She is currently working but I want her to be able to visit the uk so that I don’t have to be the one doing the traveling all the time. I plan to apply for spouse visa when I finally get my certificate.

What is the immigration status of your current spouse you are in the process of divorcing? (purely to understand if you have sponsored them for a visa).
We are even married back home ( engagement) but I can’t marry her legally until I get my certificate.
There is a difference between married and engagement. You need to state exactly what your marital status is with your new partner as this could have an effect on any spouse visa you applied for.
She is currently working but I want her to be able to visit the uk so that I don’t have to be the one doing the traveling all the time.

Visitor visa, but expect scrutiny if she states your relationship as UKVI might doubt she will leave the UK.

She is a French National. She sponsored me to get a visa until I receive my British citizen this year. Our marriage ended in 2015 and we both moved on without getting the divorce certificate. I met my new partner this period in the uk before she went back home to work after she finished with her studies. We have been together ever since. We got engaged in 2017 not married but we will once I get the certificate

Might be difficult for her to get a visitor visa so if you apply, be prepared for a refusal.
