Evidence that previous relationship has broken down

Post by Crosz » Wed Jun 06, 2018 6:32 am

Hello everyone. It will be nice to get your perspective. I'm applying as a tier 2 dependent from outside the UK. I am married to my wife who has the job offer.
My question is, in general, are married couples required to show evidence that past relationships have broken down. And more specifically to me, am I required to show evidence that my previous relationship has broken down. In the past, I was issued an unmarried partner visa with another girl in the country where I am living. If yes, what document can someone use to show that an unmarried relationship has broken down. Thanks

No. It only applies if either partner were married before and then divorced.

So are you saying I don't have to do anything in my application concerning the unmarried partner visa in my expired passport.

Is it a UK visa or a visa for the country you are living in?

If the country you are living, if that visa is no longer valid, then what is your immigration status in that country if not your country of birth/nationality?

I'm applying for UK tier 2 dependent visa. My wife has a job offer in the UK. My present status in the country I'm living in now is work permit. But I also have the unmarried partner visa in my passport. Though I am not on the unmarried passport visa presently.

It should not be an issue if your most recent right to stay in the said country is a work permit, presumably superseding the unmarried partner visa.

Yeah thanks. Just worried because I saw an old thread here where a guy who lives in the UK on ILR that he got through an unmarried partner visa, is now applying for the wife to come over to the UK on spouse visa, and it was denied because he didn't provide evidence that all previous relationship has terminated. They wanted evidence that the unmarried partnership had terminated. So I was wondering how that could be possible, and what evidence is he even supposed to provide of the termination.
Really appreciate all your contributions. Been worried sick. I'm submitting on the 11th.
Please if you have any more info regarding this situation and why they would ask him to provide that, please I will be here all day.

The person you are referring to is a completely different scenario and is based on UK only visas for partners/spouse.

How long ago did your unmarried partner visa expire? When did the relationship end?

When did your current relationship start and when did you get married?

When did your current work permit start from?

I got the partner visa in May 2012, to expire May 2014. Then I got a work visa in October 2012. Married in Sept 2013. So I have been on work visa since October 2012 till now.

I don't think it will be an issue to be honest.
