Can I just go down the 10-year route if I feel like it?
Or are there certain criteria the spouse has to meet?
Thanks

You are mistaken. FLR(FP) 10 year partner route is for when you DO NOT meet the financial requirement for FLR(M). She would NOT be applying for FLR(FP) PARENT route. The '7 years' issues is also NOT relevant to British children, it is for parents and children applying for leave to remain when a non British child has lived in the UK for 7 years. We're due to have a baby in October who'll be a UK citizen, but the baby won't have been living in the UK for 7 years, which seems to be a requirement for one way into the 10-year route.
