Schengen Visa - Visa Issued by France and Travel to Italy

Post by 9elizabeth » Fri Jun 08, 2018 12:07 pm

Hi all,
I have a question. A friend of mine who is on Teir 1 Entrepreneur Visa in UK has business visa issued by French embassy in London for 1 year. He has travelled to France on business on the visa. Next time, he wish to go to Italy. Can he fly direct to Italy from London on the visa? Would Italy allow him to enter as the visa is issued by France?

He can travel any Schengen country and should not have problems especially because he lives in the UK.

Are you 100% sure? I heard, you have to enter to EU from the country from where the visa is issued and once you are in that country, you can go to any where in Europe you like. But in my friend case, he intend to enter in Italy but visa is issued by French Embassy.

You 'heard' wrong. A Schengen visa is valid in all the countries who belong to the Schengen agreement.

First, you are welcome.

Am I 100% sure?

Are you somehow thinking that:

- I take time off my day,
- come here,
- read questions,
- and supply wrong information

just for the kicks?

You asked a question.
And luckily for you, for free and quickly, you were given the answer to your question.

If one does not trust an information provided by a source or have doubts:

A) it is pointless to ask the source if they are "sure" since what kind of certainty do you get from asking them that?
B) it takes seconds to do a simple research to verify the information.

I probably know what you're asking about & your question/confusion is very much valid. If this was the first time they're travelling then they'll have to enter the country from whose embassy/high commission the initial visa was issued. But if it's a multiple entry & still valid visa then they wouldn't have to go to that very country every time. It's just the first time they'll have to go there & basically have it validated by gaining the entry stamp on their passports & that should be fine to travel to any other countries within Schengen Zone even coming out of it & later re-entering through a different port....
