Hi
I have a tier 2 visa that will expire on 30/08/2020 and I have been staying in the UK, under a tier 2 visa since 12/10/2015. My 5-year period requirement for ILR will be on 13/10/2020, 31 days after expiry of my tier 2 visa.
My employer is willing to renew my tier 2 visa and I am confident that I meet the ILR requirements before taking into account period length. My question is should I apply for another tier 2 visa , which will be my third one in this case , or the home affairs will be understanding enough to grant me ILR , given that its only 43 days till the 5 year threshold is meet .
Someone told me that another alternative would be to apply for a 60-day extension and then apply for an ILR during the extension period. Too me that defeats the purpose of an extension period , as the extension period is mainly granted for someone who wants to leave the country rather than to accumulate days .
