A1 is required for initial visa, A2 for extension but B1 for ILR after 5 years. For an educated person no test should be difficult so better to do B1 which will be accepted at initial & extension stage without re-sitting for another test as per the current rule.
The opinion expressed as above is neither a professional advice nor contesting/competing to other member's opinion/advice.

Thanks Seagul,

well i got your point but i checked home office document which shows clearly about the validity of english test either A1 or B1 the validity is for 2 years right. so if my wife sit exam for B1 and extension will be after 2.5 years so how B1 will be valid ? just need to clarify that please.

Thanks again .

Hi,

I have asked similar question and waiting for answers.

immigration-for-family-members/flr-m-ex ... 7821.html

Going by Rules & IELTS websites, all tests (A1/A2/B1) are valid for 2 years only. However not sure if any member have successfully used expired B1 certificate for (FLR-M Extension or ILR).

Let's wait for reply.

Thanks.
