ILR and Declaration? (online application)

Post by schnauzer » Wed Jul 04, 2018 12:54 am

Hi everyone,

I've made a massive error before my husbands settlement checking appointment tomorrow :(

it said "There are two types of SET(M) application forms, the online SET(M) form and the printable SET(M) form. The online form should be completed online and the application paid for, you should then print a copy and bring it with you to the appointment. The printable form should be completed by hand, and you must ensure that you include your payment details which the UKBA will process when they receive your application."

I read that as we needed to do both an online form in order to prove we had paid before the appointment, and bring a proper set(M) form filled in too. We have finished the printable form and now done the online one and paid, so I hope I haven't messed things up, but it's too late now! :(

So my question is, it says I (his spouse) need to sign a declaration (Declaration signed by spouse or civil partner) and this is nowhere to be seen! It's a mandatory document and I need to do this by tomorrow afternoon. I'm going to try and ring the immigration helpline but they have been no use with anything else and for technical help there is just an email address.

At the end of the completed form it says this:

Declaration
By sending this application, you confirm that to the best of your knowledge and belief the following is correct:
the information relating to the application the supporting documents
the photograph is an accurate likeness
Also, the application will be processed according to the privacy policy and terms and conditions.
If false information is given, the application will be refused and the applicant may be banned from the UK and prosecuted.
I am the applicant

it just ends with "I am the applicant" which i'm not i'm the spouse and there is nowhere to sign? Has anyone been in this situation, what can I do? I have really messed things up! It would have been fine if I hadn't paid online and just took in the paper form which has a declaration at the end. Do you think they would let us submit both? If anyone knows how I can find the spouse declaration please let me know i'm in such a panic! Thanks! (sorry for long, rambling post!)

If you have completed and submitted the online form, then stick to the online form as it will supersede the paper copy. You will be able to print the form you filled online after you have submitted. That will be the one you need. Don't bother yourself about the differences in the online form and the paper copy. I hope you have completed the correct online form?
Your husband can go for his appointment with the paper copy as a backup, but the online form is what you should stick to.

Hi Schnauzer,

1- did you mean Settlement Checking service at local council appointment OR you got PSC appointment for SET(M) ILR at premium service centre?

2- if you got PSC appointment then Online application form will be considered for application, once you have printed this online completed form you will be able to see what mistake have you done ? It will be also helpful to bring with you Paper form completed as well if UKVI might accept this form which is unlikely...

3: Another important question how it is possible you completed online application yesterday and after completing online form you have been able to book your PSC appointment same time finding today Slot ? OR you have already booked PSC appointment before filling online form ? You post is not very clear ...,?

Op has clearly stated settlement checking service and not premium service.

Yes I have done the correct form, but when I get it up to print it says this at the very bottom:

"Declaration
By sending this application, you confirm that to the best of your knowledge and belief the following is correct:
the information relating to the application the supporting documents
the photograph is an accurate likeness
Also, the application will be processed according to the privacy policy and terms and conditions.
If false information is given, the application will be refused and the applicant may be banned from the UK and prosecuted.
I am the applicant"

Nowhere to sign, just ends abuptly with "I am the applicant" for some reason.. it says I (spouse) definitely need to sign a declaration but it's just not on here, I was thinking of just pasting those words onto word and signing it and including it with the documents, what do you think? Thanks :)

If you use the online form, no need to sign as submitted it electronically is equivalent to you accepting the conditions.

Hi bluebird,

It's the settlement checking service at the council.

I haven't made a mistake on the form, the problem I have is it says everywhere that the spouse "must sign a declaration" and it just isn't there to sign.

At the end of the form it says:

"Declaration
By sending this application, you confirm that to the best of your knowledge and belief the following is correct:
the information relating to the application the supporting documents
the photograph is an accurate likeness
Also, the application will be processed according to the privacy policy and terms and conditions.
If false information is given, the application will be refused and the applicant may be banned from the UK and prosecuted.
I am the applicant"

The whole form just ends abruptly with "I am the applicant" so I was thinking of copying that statement into a word document and signing/dating it? I have the declarations from the paper form so will take these too. Do you think this is okay? I just don't know what else I can do.

Thanks! :)

You are over thinking. The form clearly states "by submitting.....". There is no need to physically sign the online form as it get sent electronically to HO and you must not copy anything into a word document as it is not the official HO form.

But in the Mandatory Documents it says this:

Mandatory documents

The passport issued by Australia for Mr xxx
Declaration signed by spouse or civil partner
Two passport photos for Mrs xxx
Two passport photos for Mr xxx
etc....

Do you think I should sign my name underneath that statement on the printed form? I don't get why it's saying it needs this to be sent, it's on the checklist too.

Thanks! :)

The paper form needs to be signed if your are only using the paper form.

Have you checked with settlement checking service that you can use them if you have submitted the online form??

Okay, that list I just posted is from the online form though, when you go to print it (online version not paper) it goes on about me signing it..so does that mean I definitely don't need to sign anything? Yes I can definitely use the online form with the settlement checking service.

Thanks again :)

I don't know if my reply is late but the online application form NEEDS a seperate paper declaration to be signed by spouse/sponsor.

On the Document checklist (before the applicant's declaration page). There is a link right there, on the section it says signed declaration by spouse, in blue. If you click on it it downloads a pdf document to sign. And it also gives you an option to download it it at the end of your application.

Hi there, may I ask (just registered on this site as being extremely confused and worried :( ), I couldn't find this separate declaration anywhere, neither in the middle of online application, nor at the end after payment, nor on my checklist! I had phoned home office, after eventually somebody answering my call, he said he would look into it for me then he just hung up! Could you send me the Declaration document if possible? Many thanks!

No, I think submitted online application is enough. However, have you found the separate declaration that we need to post along with supporting documents? Many thanks! Xxx

I've been looking for the declaration form online as well. Can't find any link. Wrote to the home office and they said the link is in section 4 but it doesn't look like it's possible to navigate back after submitting the online application.
