Start date for FLR visa (Tier-2 General)

Post by AW_UK » Sat Jul 07, 2018 2:46 pm

Hello Friends,

I would like to get some help on the following question.

My Tier-2 Dependant (spouse) visa is valid until 1-Oct 2018. I will apply for the FLR at the same time with the main applicant.

However, as I have to travel overseas on a short trip for business reason, we are planning to apply for the FLR around 15-Aug 2018. The idea is to get the FLR and then travel overseas.

Is it possible to get the FLR visa with a start date that would be closer to 1-Oct 2018 (expiry date of existing visa), rather than closer to 15-Aug 2018 (date of application of FLR). Pushing the start date of FLR helps me on the new 180 days absence rule as the new rule will only apply on the new visa (FLR in this case) taken after 11-Jan 2018.

Many thanks.

Presumably you mean apply for a PBS Dependent visa??? FLR is another category of visa, not PBS Dependent.

You can apply at any point, however the visa start date will be from date of approval and is NOT 'tagged on' to the expiry date of the existing visa.

Is your dependent traveling with you??
