Unmarried partner visa, applying from within the UK

Post by steelersnurse » Mon Jul 09, 2018 6:17 pm

Hi everyone,

I've been reading through as many posts as I can but can't seem to find the answer to a couple of questions.

My partner is Australian and came to the UK on the 5th December 2016 on a Tier 5 Youth Mobility Visa. We are now hoping to apply for an unmarried partner visa so that he can stay in the UK however I can't seem to find any information on any of the forums or government sites advising whether or not my partner can apply for the unmarried partner visa whilst still in the UK (before his current visa expires) and be able to stay in the country or have to leave while we await a decision on approval.

My other concern is that as we would be applying for the partner visa a couple of days before his current visa expires we will be about a week short of the 2 years co-habiting requirement.

Any help, advice or suggestions of where else to look would be really appreciated
Thanks!

Do you have documented evidence of co-habitation in a relationship 'akin to marriage' throughout the qualifying period :?:

Do you meet the minimum income level of £18,600 p.a :?:

My partner has documents with our address on for the first 12 months but I don’t have any from the start of that time period as I already had my bills set up when my partner moved in. I’m hoping I’ll be able to get some paper copies sent with my name on from the utility companies but we don’t have anything addressed to us jointly. Then we have bills addressed to us both starting from December when we moved house. We don’t have a joint bank account though .

I meet the minimum income level but I don’t think my partner will as he does teaching agency work so it’s not consistent. If I meet the minimum income level then will that cover my partner if he doesn’t?
