Old BRP returned with other documents

Hello everyone, I hope someone with experience with priority application can answer my question.

I sent all the documents required last week by post and yesterday I received all the documents back with a acknowledgment letter t say they are considering my application. My old BRP is also returned. The old BRP is a tier 4 BRP that expires in September.

Is this normal? I would have thought they would keep the old BRP to prevent duplicated BRP?

Old BRP is only kept if your application is successful. It becomes invalid anyway if a new visa is granted and you get a new BRP.

If it becomes invalid why would they send it back to me? Any idea?

Your visa app might still get refused. No guarantee of success.
