Child born outside UK

Post by ABUK23 » Tue Jul 17, 2018 2:54 pm

Dear members,

Appreciate if someone could assist. I am British Citizen through naturalization, my wife is Pakistani citizen and never been to UK.

I am currently living in the middle east and we are expecting our 1st child who will be born outside UK. I was wondering how to go about it and can my child get British citizenship/passport after the birth?

I will eventually apply spouse visa for my wife as well but want to do that at later stage once we are ready to move back to UK.

Appreciate if someone could help.

Thanks

Your child will be British by birth (British by descent) and you can apply for passport directly. It may take a few months to get it though as they are processed in the UK.

You will likely need your naturalisation cert and your passport.
