BRP expiry and cos expiry mismatch

Post by Parth198080 » Wed Jul 18, 2018 10:36 am

All, need your advise and best way to move forward.

I have been granted Tier 2 General visa.

My cos is expiring this month, however my BRP expiry date is 3 July 2020. I have contacted my company's immigration team to extend the cos as the project I am working on will be till 2 Jan 2019, they have said since your BRP is valid till July 2020, not to be worried about and no new COS is required. And I am eligible to stay and work for the company. Is the company approach correct? Is it ok to have different expiry dates in COS and BRP?

THANKS

A CoS is only valid to USE for your visa application for 3 months. However if your CoS information stated your employment from x date to y date, then that is what your visa was granted for.

Thanks for your response. So the end date specified in my cos is 31st July. Do I need to get a new cos assigned till Jan 2019. This means a new BRP card will be issued.

And the expiry date difference, is this a problem.

Regards,

You were granted a visa presumably based on the employment length stated in your CoS. What are the visa start and end dates of your visa??

When you say Visa start date and end date, I presume BRP start and end date. I just have a vignettes stamp in my passport.

BRP start and end date : 3 July 17 to 2 July 20.

You stated you have a BRP now you say you have a visa vignette in your passport?? They are two different things.

So your visa was issued for 3 years, because that was the duration of the CoS.

Once a CoS is assigned to you to apply for your visa, it is only valid for 3 months to USE in a visa application. This has nothing to do with the CoS length of 3 years employment for visa duration.

You are overthinking this.
