Hi All,
I would like to know how to apply for NI number from India. I had been to uk on tier 2 ICT short term visa and did not apply NI number.
Please let me know whether I can apply or point me in right directions to get it done.

You cannot apply from India.

You need to apply in the UK for a NI number.

Why do you need one if you have left the UK??

I am not sure whether NI will be asked or not when I try to get Work permit again.

It will likely ask but it is not mandatory to have one. If you don't have one and the form asks, simply state 'no you don't have one'.
