Family Visa - is there ay impediment to our future visa renewal if we stay less than a year in U.K.

Post by tintin_cai » Thu Jul 26, 2018 10:43 am

Hello there, I'm new here to this site. This is my first post. I am wondering if anyone on this site has similar experience as ours whilst applying for the Family visa (spousal visa). My husband and I just got married in London, my husband is a British citizen and I'm a Singaporean citizen holding a Tier 4 student visa, we are preparing our application for the Family visa. as we are filling up the information, under the application, there is a segment that ask if we are planning to in U.K. permanently. - As of now we are certain we like to stay in U.K. but at some point we would also like to also venture to Singapore( or Australia) to get some work experience. (But we are still uncertain when that will happen and for how long if we did leave the U.K.). A general question is that would we jeopardise our visa or future visa application (the renewal of 2 years visa after the initial 6 months that has been issued) if we leave at any point when the visa was offer? Is there any minimum stay period after the visa was offered? For example if the worst case scenario, that we leave after the initial 6 months visa is offer, and we decided not to renewal the later 2 years visa, would it affect my chance to stay in the U.K. in the future when we decided to come back to the U.K.? Are there any minimum stay requirement for family visa?

Thank you!

No effect. HO don't expect you to stay indefinitely. You are free to travel and if you decide to return in a few years, just apply for a spouse visa again, based on whatever the rules are at that time.

As to the question in the form about staying in the UK, you can answer yes to it as that is the purpose of the visa you are applying for.

Maybe the heat has affected me...but what category of visa have you applied for which will grant an initial 6 month period only? Aren't you switching from Tier 4 to FLR(M) from within the UK? :?
