Hi! If I apply for Tier 2 general visa (dependent) for my minor child, I believe I will able to collect his BRP through the nomination process once a temporary visa is granted for my child. Bur does my child have to travel to the UK indicating an entry and only then the BRP can be collected on his behalf?

Yes. You need to present the childs passport with entry stamp for BRP collection as far as I understand.
