British Passport for child born in Canada

Hi,

My son's father is British Citizen and living in Canada with me. Our son born in Canada but we would like to take British Passport for him.

I am still searching online and couldn't find a solution whether we directly apply him for British Passport or do I need to obtain British citizen letter before applying for passport.

We are planning to go settle in UK. I'd like to know, is it easy to apply from Canada or apply when we go there.

Someone please advise.

He is naturalized as British Citizen.

Father became British citizen on December 2002 and child born on 2015.

Child is automatically British by descent and can apply for a passport directly.
