About spouse visa

Post by themusicman » Sun Jul 22, 2018 8:09 am

Hello all

Thanks in advance for reading this and potentially help me out here.

I am a UK citizen, a student who is about to study for a postgraduate research degree, has never worked before in the UK, and never paid tax before, and two years ago I have met the love of my life, she is from China, and we are about to get married in the next month or so. And I would like to ask about, for the spouse visa, I guess the only route for me is via savings. My grandparents, who have settled abroad (non UK citizen but living abroad) are very supportive and have given me 62500+ couple of months ago, for my daily spending, rent, etc. As I won't touch the 62500, can I apply for the spouse visa successfully once we get married and the saving is in my bank for more than 6 months? As the gifted money was from abroad, would this cause any complications?

I wish everyone's grandparents are similarly supportive :P
Yes with £62500 old savings you can apply spouse visa. I think you will have to declare its source & possibly might need official declaration from your grandfather who gifted you such amount.

About Spouse, (Dual nationality)

Post by themusicman » Sun Jul 29, 2018 8:51 am

Hello again.

I got a question today on the spouse visa. I am a dual nationality UK citizen, moved to the UK at the age of 15 from HK, now 23, solely for education purpose, and currently still a master student, and haven't worked before in the UK. As I haven't worked before in the UK and lived here solely for education purpose, but planning to stay in the UK to work for the next few decades. Can I still apply for the spouse visa successfully for my other half with my £62.5k saving route given from my family living in HK?

Thanks all.

With £62.5K 6 months old saving you will be fine and your previous work won't matter. But on application reply honestly & correctly.
