Switch tier 4 to tier 2 dependent

Post by weidade3721 » Wed Aug 01, 2018 1:01 pm

Hi All,

I might be asking a silly question here.

I am currently a Master student with a tier 4 visa, and I just got married to my boyfriend who is working on a Tier 2 general visa.

I am about to switch to the tier 2 dependent (inside the UK on my own ). It says here https://www.gov.uk/tier-2-general/family-members that I can apply online. BUT there is no link. Can you help me by letting me know the correct links for this online application?

Thanks.

Did you not scroll down the page and see the link that says 'PARTNER'??
Dependants applying in the UK on their own
Your dependants can apply to extend or switch their visas to stay with you if they’re already in the UK.

Your family members can apply online if they’re your:

partner

Hi, many thanks for your reply! Yes I saw it, but when I clicked partner, it says 'PBS Dependant - Partner' . What does the PBS mean? I guess PBS is for applicants from outside UK, but I might be wrong. Please let me know if I am wrong here....

You are wrong

PBS = Points Based System - which is what the Tier 2 visa category falls under so this is correct for you.

Aha, great to know I was wrong. Thanks. Is there anything I need to pay extra attention in this application? Since it is pointed based...

No, you are dependent on your partner, so fill the form in as the questions ask. You don't need 'points' for the dependent visa. Any queries, post here in this topic for help.

Hi weidade3721,

Hope you alright. I noticed that you are applying for a tier 2 dependant visa, switching from a tier 4 general visa from within UK. I'm doing the same thing. I really appreciate if you could share how your application process went. Also, may I check if the document list below is correct?

1. Tier 2 dependent visa application form
2. Recent passport photographs x2
3. Dependent's passport
4. Photocopies of my passport(s) (Tier 2 holder)
5. Photocopy of Tier 2 BRP (Tier 2 holder)
7. Dependant's UK bank statements (3 month with minimum balance as stated in requirement)
9. Council or utility bill as proof of address
10. Our marriage certificate

I hope to hear from you the soonest.

Thanks
