Hi all,
I am British citizen and my wife is on a normal UK spouse visa (5 year route). She is due to apply for ILR early 2020, and then citizenship immediately after. She does not work so we are applying via my full-time employment income, which is way above the £18,600 threshold, so there is no issue in terms of meeting any requirements etc. I am in full-time employment so don't usually complete a tax return to send to HMRC.
I've read a lot about people having issues with their ILR and/or Citizenship application because of tax amendments and wanted to clarify a few things.
Do these issues with tax amendments only apply to people on Tier based visas? What about Spouse visas?
If I had to make some tax amendments (i.e. submit tax returns) for the past 2-3 years, would this possibly create any issues when my wife comes to apply for ILR and British citizenship?
I'm still looking in to whether I need to do this but just thought I'd ask the question while I speak to various accountants.
Thanks!
