Need Help - Spouse Visa - Got married in India!

Post by Sam94 » Fri Aug 17, 2018 1:43 am

Hi There,
My first post on this forum, need some guidance. I am a British citizen and my wife is on a tier 2 general visa which she got it recently. It’s been like three weeks since we got married in India, we are planning to be back in UK by September second week and then apply for spouse visa for my wife.
Kindly let me know if there are any additional requirements If you get married outside UK. Also if there will be any issue as we got married in India.
Thanks in advance.

If the marriage has been legally conducted in India yielding marriage certificate then it will be acceptable in UK too and you wont need to re-register in UK. However, if your partner is happy with her tier2 sponsor employer then preferably let her continue on tier 2 because switching into spouse visa will cost a lot and plus her period towards settlement will reset to zero. Otherwise she can switch into spouse visa within UK and there wont be any additional documents needed even if the marriage is conducted outside UK except the TB test if she is in uk from less than 6 months and English version of marriage certificate & Ielts life skills A1/A2/B1/Naric red route report.
The opinion expressed as above is neither a professional advice nor contesting/competing to other member's opinion/advice.
