Hello,

I have a question. I got a settlement two weeks ago after finishing 5 years on Tier 2 working visa and my wife is currently on dependent Tier 2 visa (She will get settlement visa at the end of the next year). We have a baby due next month. What kind of benefits we can get from the government or tax credits for our first child? I am can now access to public funds but my wife can't.

She is unemployed and a house-wife. She worked last year between April 2017 till September 2017 with only one company.

Can someone please give me the valuable advise?

Child Benefit in YOUR name.

Child Tax Credits in JOINT names with your spouse.

Is that not going to affect her Tier 2 Visa application (extension) or ILR application in the future

Can i also go for Sure Start grant too?
