Old BRP not returned

Hello,

I applied using the standard postal option for Tier-2 inside the UK.
I received my passport, documents and new BRP last week. However, the old BRP (which shows my current immigration status and it will expire this month) was not included in the documents. I wonder if it is possible to ask them to return it, or have they already discarded it?

I am very worried as I need it for my future ILR application which would be next year (to show proof of my previous BRP's/visas etc.)

It is superseded by your new BRP/visa so therefore no longer valid.

You DO NOT need it for ILR. You only need your CURRENT BRP card.
