Post by rupert77 » Wed Sep 05, 2018 12:20 pm

Hi
I am paying pension using salary sacrifice, which is been deducted before tax. Is it going to be issue during Naturalisation application? as not paying enough NI...
Do we need to submit payslip or P60 and employer letter will do?

thanks

There is no requirement to even be employed to apply for citizenship.

You are overthinking. It is not an issue.

AN application form page 31 says

'SECTION 10 Evidence of National Insurance contributions covering the relevant period:
• payslips
• P60’s
• letter or letters from your employer or employers confirming you have worked in their
employment including start and finish dates'

hence the question arise

Most NDRS or NCS don't take this evidence. The form asks for your NI number and HO has access to the system to check. Note that certain applicants are required to provide this, i.e. EU citizens for example.

As already mentioned, this should not be an issue but if you are still worried, Salary Sacrifice schemes do not affect your NI in the manner you have view it. If in doubt check your pension records on the UK government gateway and you will see that your NI for every year you have worked, (provided your NI and pension is deducted at source) will be indicated as FULL YEAR.
