A few questions after receiving the CoS

Post by roophysio » Tue Sep 18, 2018 8:23 am

Hi all,

Apologies if all these questions have been asked before - I’m sure they have but just hoping to get some clear guidance. My girlfriend’s CoS arrived today so she will be applying for the visa while she’s back home in Australia. I am also on a Tier 2 visa at present.

Apparently her CoS does not show whether her sponsor is a Category A etc on the certificate like mine did 2 years ago. Is this right?

Her start date has been put down as the 1/10/18. Obviously it’s going to take a few weeks to send of her passport and get her visa back. Is it ok to put down a later arrival date in the UK if the employer is aware?
Is there a timeframe that you have to be in the UK from the date of your proposed start date?

And suppose she puts down the end of October for instance, is there a timeframe that you have to arrive in the UK from the date you put down?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also to get a rough idea re current timelines, people who have recently applied from Australia - how long did it take to get your visa back after applying with your CoS?

If her CoS states the start date is 1 OCT 2018. And she can start to work with her employer within 30 days, no problem at all.

Hi just another question.

My girlfriend got her visa and her passport back. It says that her UK entry is valid from 22/10 until 21/11.

Is she able to arrive before the 22nd and where is this actually mentioned??

Thanks for any help!

No, she can only enter the UK on her visa on the 22nd. Her tier 2 vignette needs to be stamped on arrival.

If she arrives before that date and is stamped in as a visitor, it could cancel out her tier 2.
