Friends & Cultural Ties (SET M)

Post by lavinia85 » Mon Oct 01, 2018 2:05 pm

Hi all,

Does anyone else find the following question strange/offensive?
Do you have any friends in your country of birth, nationality or any other country where you have lived for more than 5 years?

Explain why you do not have friends in any of these countries
I really struggle to find a correct way of answering this. I am 24 years old and have no close friends in my country of birth. What does the Home Office expect me to say.. It is demeaning..

Note this question is not repeated on the paper form, just the electronic one.

Any thoughts welcome?

Thanks vm.

Nothing there to feel offensive about - They are trying to establish what ties you have in your home country.

No harm in describing about few relative/brother/sisters in home country.
The opinion expressed as above is neither a professional advice nor contesting/competing to other member's opinion/advice.
