Visa for mother

Post by rbsjp » Sat Oct 06, 2018 6:41 am

Good morning
My apologies because this question is about a visitor visa and not actually an immigration matter.
I am a British citizen. Got it through 5 year TIER 1 route.
My mother nearly 80 lives in India and has an Indian passport.
Questions
1. She is planning to visit Australia and then UK. Can she apply for UK visa in Australia? Or she needs to get UK visa in India?
2. I know UK visa is valid for 6 months. So once a visa is granted, when can you come in UK and how long can you then remain in UK>
3. Will she need a medical/ Xray for the UK visa?
4. Will a medical insurance be required or is it advisable? How much will it cost?

1. She must apply for a visa in a country where she has legal residence, i.e. NOT as a visitor.

2. A visitor can enter the UK at any time while the visa is valid and MUST leave by the date the visa expires.

3. No.

4. Probably, but not for the visa process. You will need to do your own research based on her circumstances.

What evidence of ties to home country will she submit?? Visitor visas are much harder to get now that a few years ago.

Thank you.
Apart from the house she owns and has been living there all her life there is no other tie with India she can show. Is that not good enough?

No, it is likely not sufficient.

HO expect to see financial ties like income and bank statements, family ties, social ties, property etc.
