How to bypass 6 month requirement for financial requirement?

Hello,

I am the US-American and my husband is the American. We will be moving back to the UK in 2020 but at the moment we are still in the States and earning American income. The way I understand the financial requirements, we will need to have sold the house 6 months prior to applying in order to show that we have the money in savings, or else I will need to go to the UK ahead of him and work for 6 months. Is it true that even with the sale of the house, we will need to have shown the money has been in our account for 6 months to demonstrate satisfying the financial requirement? I'm trying to sort out a situation where we're not moving twice in a year or else living apart for half a year.

Sales of house funds is fine if not held for 6 months and you have to provide a rock solid paper trail of the ownership and funds etc.
