Missed the police register deadline By couple of days,

Hello,

I have studied in uk for 2 years and i wasnt required to register with the police, but when i renewed my visa for university for another 3 years i was required. unfortunately i wasnt aware of the 7 days rule as no one told me, i had my assignment coming up so i waited a week for to go to police register. so i missed the dead line by 6 days. now i have gotten a appointment for december. i cant wait that long just to be told that ill get deported. can anyone know what consequences i'd be facing. i read online that i might go to prison for 6 months. this is worse than capital punishment for me. please help me.
