Looking for advice on bringing my Canadian wife to the UK

Hi there,

I hope I've followed the rules; I didn't find anything similar to my circumstances on my search.

I am a British Citizen; my wife is Canadian.
We got married six years ago in England.
Apart from the times when my wife has come over for six months on a Visitor Visa; we have never lived together.
I am now disabled and in need of a carer.

How can my wife come over and live in the UK?; she would also need to work part-time.

She will need to apply for a settlement spouse visa as normal. If you receive any of the following benefits you will be exempt from the financial requirement of £18,600:

Carer’s Allowance
Severe Disablement Allowances
Industrial injuries disablement benefits
Attendance allowance
Armed forces independence payment
Guaranteed Income Payment
Constant Attendance Allowance, Mobility Supplement or War Disablement Pension

Otherwise to meet the financial requirement you will need to show salary of £18,600 or if you earn less then savings can be combined to make for shortfall in the salary or £62,500 cash savings.

DLA / PIP is also a qualifying benefit. You will still need to show "adequate maintenance"

Hi again,
I've read somewhere that the immigration fee and the NHS fee won't need to be paid due to me having PIP.
I now can't find where I read it (it was on a gov.uk page)
Can anyone shed any light onto this for me?

No, the visa fee and IHS is payable.

The fee waiver (visa fee) is applicable to FLR(FP) extensions within the UK if a person is destitute and homeless or the victim of domestic violence or a refugee etc. Fee waiver is also not guaranteed for extension applications.
