Surnames

Post by dthornton » Fri Nov 02, 2018 10:18 am

Hi all - so happy to have gotten this far.

We're about to apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain. Wife has the life in UK test tomorrow she's been practising for it every day lately.

We're getting the usual nerves and worries and starting to think about the things immigration officers might pull us up on and wondering what your advice and experiences are with them please

Our main concern is my wife's surname on her passport and BRP are her maiden surname but work contract, payslips, bank details and pretty much everything else are in our married surname.

Do you think this will cause an issue? We can't change her BRP name without first updating the surname on the passport, which would require a name change in her home country first.

The other option is changing all the other names back to her maiden name. But all of the post we have saved over the last 2 years is in our married name.

Bit of a pickle really. What do you think?

Over thinking. Not an issue.

Presumably your marriage cert would be evidence of the married name.
