Passport Extension

Post by skullman » Sat Nov 03, 2018 12:31 pm

Hi, just a quick question on behalf of my wife.

She's currently making an application online for FLR/M extension. She is Venezuelan - her passport expired Nov 2017 but obtained a 2 year passport extension from Dec 2017 to Dec 2019 as the Venezuelan government are not currently renewing replacement/new passports due to corruption/material shortages. Anyway we're just a bit confused on what issue/expiry dates to put in on the "Your Passport" section of the application, or if the Home Office will even acknowledge the extension as legitimate.

Has anyone else been through a similar problem?

Thanks

Just follow the passport and give correctly its necessary details wherever its being asked.

Yeah just not sure whether to put the issue/expiry dates of the original passport or the 2-year extension. Thanks anyway :)

Most of the forms always ask about the recent as well as the previous passport. So you should mention both of them at the relevant sections of form.

If a passport has been legally extended, then isn’t its expiry date extended as well?

The extension is basically just a printout with a stamp and hologram laminated onto one of the blank visa pages inside the expired passport, similar in design to the original photo ID information page.

Think I'll just put the original passport date as the Issue date rather than when the 2 year extension started

Never heard such type of passport extension
But still whatever format of new passport issued either in the form of page/hologram/print out the just follow its dates as previously advised too.
