Unrestricted COS application processing time

Hello everybody,

I hope someone can shed light to my question. My current employer has recently requested an unrestricted COS allocation through the priority service and has been granted. I thought that it means that they can now get a certificate of sponsorship that has the number I need to apply for the TIER 2 visa extension.
Just today, our HR advisor told me that we will now have to wait until December 11 to get the sponsorship because they just applied past the 5th of the month. My current visa will be expiring January 15,2019 and I am just worried about the timelines especially with the upcoming Christmas Holidays.
Does this rule of applying after the 5th of month then waiting for the 11th of the following month apply to both restricted and unrestricted COS? If yes, is there a priority service like when we applied for the allocation?

Any inputs will be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

My circumstance was similar & then my sponsor paid for the priority service and got the COS allocation & immediately I was issued with UCoS.
Please note that in the SMS system as soon as the CoS is allocated, your sponsor should be able to issue you with CoS.

I have just spoken to the HR department they told me that they still need to apply for an unrestricted one because they do not have a number yet. Is that how it works, even if you were given the allocation you still need to apply to get the number?
