Tier 1 general main applicant will ILR.what about dependent?

Its for me friend.He got tier 1 general
His 5 years will complete on 17th april 2019..he got 3 dependents..his dependents will complete their 5 years by oct next year..so they can't apply for ilr with him..they have to get dependent visa..now problem is he was thinking to go to window end of march..get his visa same day as they willl still have their visas and then he will apply for their extension before their visas expire..now problem is window option gona finish end of this month..thats what he told me..now he will send his docs by post ..by that time their visas will expire..so what is option now?
When he should apply for them and what are required documents?Thanks
