UK Work Permit Advice

Post by assalyk » Tue Dec 18, 2018 5:33 am

Dear John,

First I must say that your forum is very helpful and i'm sure many people have taken benefits from it.
Since you're the right person to ask, i want to advice on how to get a work permit to the UK.

I have a hospitality degree from Bournemouth University, have over 4 years of experience in Human Resources and currently working in UAE as an assistant director of HR in a 5* star hotel.

Furthermore, I don't have an offer letter from an UK employer, is there a way to be moved to the UK under a work permit scheme. I have heard that UK will soon initiate an highly skilled programme, is it going to be a completely different Tier PBS or will they just add some additional info to Tier 2.

looking forward to your advice,

SA.

i want to advice on how to get a work permit to the UK.
Find a job with a sponsor on the HO approved sponsor list and that is on either Appendix J non shortage occupation or Appendix K shortage occupation. A sponsor decides which Appendix and SOC is relevant and it must be RQF Level 6 or above.

Where did you hear this? The Tier 2 visa is the Highly Skilled Programme. Without an HO approved sponsor and a Restricted CoS after successfully getting a job and your sponsor meeting all the requirements such as RLMT, minimum £30k salary etc, otherwise you won't be able to get a visa.

Note that the old 'Work Permit' was abolished in 2008 when the Tier 1 and 2 Points Based Systems were put in place.

The only other visas where you DO NOT require a sponsor is Tier 1 Entrepreneur or Tier 2 Investor. For Tier 1 Entrepreneur you need to start a business or join an existing business and have £200k available to invest. You also cannot work for any other employer on this visa and can you only work for your business.

Thank you so much for your guide.

So i have seen some jobs online but when i'm applying online, it asks me "if i'm eligible to work in the UK", if I click "no", my application gets denied. This is challenging and difficult in terms of, how will I be offered an employment contract or even get an interview call without taking my online application further.
