Tier 2 dependant work rights

Post by felipe2fp » Mon Jan 28, 2019 8:10 pm

Hi Everyone,

I'm going to UK with a tier 2 general visa and my wife as a dependant. I will be contract for 1 year and after this if they liked me they will renew my contract for a long term (so far as I understand)...

Some of my friends which made the same process said that their wifes cannot work more than 20hr/week, and if she wants a full-time 40hr their employer should request a CoS and a visa to her like they are doing to me! Do you know why? Someone knows what are the restrictions of an tier 2 general dependant to work comparing with a UK citizen?

Thanks in advanced, this is really being on my way to decide if I will accept this a job to go to UK.

Felipe,

Rubbish. Stop listening to your 'friends'. A Tier 2 dependent is free to do any work, full time or part time, or not work at all. The only restriction is they cannot work as a doctor or dentist in training.

Wow, very nice to hear. I though it has something related with the fact their visas are less than 12 months...Thanks!
