Medical care

Post by TJ86 » Wed Apr 03, 2019 12:47 am

Hi,

My wife had treatment after seeing a gp about her stomach. She was given an appointment to have a endoscopy and colonoscopy at a hospital. We was not charged or given any fees. This was in September 2017.

In April 2017 new regulations were made requiring all hospitals to check upfront whether patients are eligible for free NHS treatment. This was for plans to recover the cost of health treatments provided to patients not ordinarily resident in the UK.

As I said, we was not told of any costs or fees. And would not have had the tests done if we had to pay thousands of pounds.

How does this affect the application? Shouldn’t it be ok, as we wasn’t told of costs or sent a fee to pay, and as states in the new regulations that the hospitals need to check and make a decision?

Thanks

You might have to pay it because now on almost all forms there is a section where they ask about that whether the applicant accessed ever the NHS. You will have to honestly reply it.
The opinion expressed as above is neither a professional advice nor contesting/competing to other member's opinion/advice.

Thank your for your advice. I contacted the hospital and am now in the process of sorting it.
