Ancestry visa - maternal parent marriage certificate

Post by Irkyone » Mon Jun 24, 2019 8:42 am

hi all
I am looking for some advice.

I have all the documents to apply for an ancestral visa, with the exception of my parents marriage certificate.
My unabridged birth certificate and the vault copy of my birth certificates both show my mothers maiden name - which proves my linage to my maternal grandparent.

I also have have the a certified copy of my parents divorce order, showing my mothers maiden name. and a copy of the summons.

Is this sufficient proof of my ancestry, or is the marriage certificate of my parents a deal breaker?

I believe you need the marriage cert to prove the surname change, which is presumably the same surname you have.

Does Home Affairs not have this record??

DHA have lost or misplaced both the vault and unabridged marriage certificate. I have a reference number with them and call regularly.

As to the surname change, the birth certificates show my mothers maiden name and and my fathers details. - which by rights proves the linage. I have been told that the visa is approved with out the certificate. Bearing in mind, that your parents may not have married.

Which would leave the UK home office with the same evidence, namely the Vault copy of the birth certificates and the unabridged.

Should be ok and include a brief, concise letter explaining the missing document and why you have attached the others.
