Any ideas for Switching Visa Within UK

Post by FEUK » Fri Aug 02, 2019 10:58 am

Hello Everyone,

I am currently on a Tier 2 Dependent Visa which is expiring in the end of August. I got my EU citizenship approved in the beggining of July, but still waiting for the Birth Certificate to be issued (it should have been issued in two weeks but it is taking longer due to holiday period).

Since my EU citizenship is taking longer then expected, although I believe it will be out before the end of August, I am trying to set a backup plan in the case they don't issue the document in time.

I read that currently it is not possible to switch from Tier 2 Dependent to Tier 2 Generla from within the UK and also it would take around 2-3 months to have everything sorted out, and by then for sure I would already have the EU Citizenship.

Does anyone have a tip for a short-term fix to cover any eventual gap between my Tier 2 Dependent expiring date and the Eu documentation issuing?

Thank you.

You can extend your tier 2 dependant visa if your partner is still on that visa or have acquired ILR on the basis of tier 2 visa. Or Switch into flrm if your partner has got ILR on the basis of 10 years of long residence. Also keep an eyes on Brexit news which is quite near and imminent.
The opinion expressed as above is neither a professional advice nor contesting/competing to other member's opinion/advice.

Thanks seagul, unfortunetely it is not that easy.

My wife Visa is expiring and altough the employer wants to keep her, they don't want to extend the Visa as they are trying to have less sponsored employees.
As we have been living here on the Tier 2 only for 3 year, we are not on the ILR zone yet.
