British citizen and husband is Canadian

Post by Choudm10 » Thu Aug 01, 2019 10:27 pm

Hi,
My situation is: my husband and I married in December 2018. I am a British citizen and We plan to stay in my mother free owned house where she has extra spare bedrooms, so accommodation isn’t needed for us as a couple.
I plan to get a full time job as I work part time making £10,500 a year currently and then will apply once I get full time. Once I get accepted into a full time job, can I apply straight away with 1 month payslip and a permanent contract will that be sufficient? Or will I need to apply after six months of being there? As we will also be getting support from my parents.
Or can I apply now? And also put my mothers finance as support from her too?
What is best?

You can't use third party financial support to meet the minimum income requirement.

You need 6 months payslips with the corresponding bank statements to prove that you have earned at least £9,300 (18,600 per annum) during the 6 month period.

You still need to prove it through documents such as land registry/title deeds, mother's noc letter and council tax (optional).

Yes that’s totally fine collecting those papers, but should I wait till I find a full time job or? Apply now with what I make but it is below the (18,600). That’s what I’m confused about

Help! British citizen and Canadian husband

Post by Choudm10 » Fri Aug 02, 2019 3:41 pm

Hi,
I am stuck.
My husband and I got married in December 2018, I’m a British citizen and he’s a Canadian citizen.
Our plan is : for me to get a full time job in March 2020 ( currently studying & going abroad) , work there for around 5/6 months apply around (July/August 2020) since I will meet the financial requirement & show proof that we will be staying at my parents home which is free owned with the documents that are needed (please tell me which documents are needed for this).

Does this sound okay? Since I can’t apply now as I only work part time and don’t meet the requirement plus I’m going abroad for the rest of the year soon.

If the rules remain unchanged then yes you can. But its not 5/6 months rather its strictly 6 months for which the payslips and bank statements are required.
