UK PR process after G T2 visa expiration

Post by NCR_India » Fri Sep 20, 2019 11:13 am

I have recently received the CoS letter from my HR where she has mentioned the CoS starting and ending dates to be '31 Oct 2019' & '17 Oct 2024' respectively, however, I will be joining them from 2nd Jan'20 most probably and when I told her about my joining she said that the CoS dated will not effect the VISA at all and she did that purposefully so that I can go ahead with the VISA appointments as I cannot apply for the Tier 2 (General) visa more than three months in advance of the start date put on the CoS.

So my question is, if in any case, will I be able to apply for the PR after 5 years as the Visa will get expired 2.5 month earlier or I need to first extend my visa for another 3 year and then I can go for the PR.

Appreciate the help!!!

Note that PR is a term for those under the EEA/EU route.

ILR is the term for those on a visa under the UK Immigration rules route.

You need 5 years residence to qualify for ILR, counted from the date of the initial visa start date (not the CoS dates). The visa start date will be from date of approval or 14 days before your start date if the start date for your employment to start is stated as January 2020.
