BC without ILR for children born outside UK

Post by MapleBoy » Sun Dec 15, 2019 6:17 pm

Hi,

We are Canadian nationals. I'm on Tier 2 (General) Visa in the UK and eligible to apply for ILR. My wife and kids (born outside UK) are my dependents and also eligible. If I was to apply for my citizenship (after having ILR for 12 months) and my wife has ILR, then do I need to apply for ILR for my kids or can I apply directly for their BC?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

They need ILR first as they are born abroad. They have no entitlement to register as British whether you hold ilr or British citizenship.

Even if they have been here for more than 3 years and both their parents will have BC?
