Registering Child born in the UK as British Citizen

Post by viralmehta1 » Wed Jan 08, 2020 5:06 pm

Hi,

I am filling up online application for my son who was born in UK to registering for British Citizen. I and my wife have got ILR status last year in June.

While filling up the application, it is asking for information like are you settled in UK? etc. Am I filling up the form as my son or I can add my details? What I need to answer in such questions like are you settled in UK?

for me it is yes but for my son, will it be yes?

Your help on this would be highly appreciated.

Many Thanks

Hi,

I need your help. While doing the application for my son I am getting question as below.

Settled status in UK

Have you had settlement in the UK?
Yes or No

Is this information for my son or for me? I have ILR status which is settlement but my son have LEAVE to Remain status. Please advise what I need to select here? Yes or no?

Thanks

The answer is no if the child does not have ilr.

Thanks for your reply.

My son's BRP card says Leave to remain. So do I still need to say No?

Also am I entering all the information in the form related to my son? He is 2.5 years old.

Regards

Settled means ilr not a visa or leave to remain. The answer remains no.

Yes, he is the applicant, not you.

Thank you for your reply.

I have now proceed in application and stuck with address part. As I am filling this application as my son and my son is only 2.5 years old, he will not have previous address. I have mentioned the current address but the next screen is asking for previous address.

What I need to mention in this field as it is not allowing me to continue further?

Please help.

Many Thanks

Perhaps type in "not applicable" or "none"?

Thanks for your reply.

I thought of writing Not applicable but it is asking date to and from in previous address section.

Please advise what I can do with this Previous address section?

Your help would be highly appreciated.

Many Thanks

Maybe other members can comment based on their own experience - as it's online we don't have sight of all the options available.

Thank you for your reply.

Could you please help me with below as I am bit confused? I will be applying or registering for British Citizenship after 4-5 months when my 12 months are completed after getting ILR. For now, I am only registering my son for naturalisation. So in this case what should be the answer for the below question? Yes or No?

I think it is NO as we are not applying at the same time but I could be wrong. could you please advise?

-------------

Are either of the parents of the child (as stated in this application) applying for naturalisation as a British citizen on an AN form?

-----------------

Your early help would be highly appreciated.

Many Thanks

Thanks for your reply. appreciate it.

I am now on the Declaration page where it says below

------------------------------------------------

I confirm that: (Required)

I am the applicant

I am a representative of the applicant and have been authorised to act on their behalf and have discussed and confirmed the contents of this application with them

--------------------------------------------------

My son is 2.5 years old and I filled the form for him. Do I need to select second option i.e. I am a representative...... OR I still need to select I am the applicant?

Please advise. Your help on this would be highly appreciated.

Many Thanks

Hi,

while filling the application for my son who is 2.5 years old, on declaration page I am getting below option.

Could you please advise which option I need to select? I filled the application on my sons behalf.

Do I need to select that "I am the applicant" OR DO I need to select "I am a representative of the applicant....."? Please advise.

I confirm that: (Required)

I am the applicant

I am a representative of the applicant and have been authorised to act on their behalf and have discussed and confirmed the contents of this application with them

Please help as I am on last page and need to submit this application for my son. Your early help on this would be highly appreciated.

Select first option "I am the applicant" - clearly you are acting on behalf of your child.
The second option is for applications through a lawyer/solicitor.

Hi,

Thanks for your help so far. I am right now on consent to the application where as parents I and my wife have signed the consent but do we need to get our Child's consent signed as well?

My son is 2.5 years old and I made an application on his behalf. so do he need to provide thumb impression in SIgned box?

I am looking to submit the application tomorrow so your early help on this would be highly appreciated.

Many Thanks

I have never heard of this in three years so no - you as parent sign on behalf of child. Child cannot legally sign anything at this age.
