Hi guys,
I am looking into applying for my first adult passport. I looked at the documents required for applicants who were born in the Philippines and to my surprise, it requires the parent's marriage certificate - even though my parents are non-UK citizens and have no links to the UK. Has anyone else encountered this? Would you need the original as well?
The second issue: I asked my mom to send me a copy but she said that her date of birth on her marriage certificate is incorrect and she has not had it amended in the 37 years she has been married. Would this be an issue? HMPO does not know my mom's birth date so if I just follow what is on the marriage certificate, then it should be ok? I do remember that on the form for Naturalisation, I wrote there my mom's correct date of birth so I'm feeling a bit paranoid if I take this route, HMPO would find out.
I called passport helpline and the guy said to add a cover letter explaining my mom's incorrect date of birth on her marriage certificate but HMPO might ask me for more documentation as well.
I guess I just want to be as prepared for documents that HMPO might ask of me because getting documents here from the Philippines will take weeks and it would be better to have it sent in one go.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
Thanks, guys.
