Tier 2 Switching Waiting Time

Post by jayhu2020 » Wed Mar 11, 2020 11:32 pm

Hi all,
First thanks very much for the experts' opinion provided on this forum.

I have got a new job offer and am switching the Tier 2 visa within UK. As they only reimburse the 8-weeks visa application fees, I could not use the premium service. And a two-month notice needs to be given to my current employer.

My question is: the UKVI promises maximum 8-weeks processing time. If I do NOT get it in 8 weeks ( considering the worst case scenario of coronavirus outbreak they stop everything), could I start to work for the new employer or need to stick with the current one? What if the current one kick me out after the two-month period, will I have a gap in continuous 5 year employment leading to ILR?

Many thanks.

Jay

You can only work for your new employer when your new tier 2 visa has been granted.

There is no employment gap restriction rule!!
