Hi there,
I am a British Citizen and my partner is a Hong Kong Citizen. We are unmarried and she gave birth to our son on 24 Mar 2020 in the UK - the day of the lockdown. The plan was to obtain our child’s birth certificate and passport and fly back before her visa expired.
Now her visa is set to expire on 13 Jul but with the councils stopping their registration services and as we are unable to obtain a passport without the birth certificate due to Covid-19 - we are looking into the possibility of whether a visa extension is possible for such an exceptional case? Bearing in mind it is not possible to register a child’s birth without the mother being present.
I know visas were extended until 31 May for anybody who’s visas were expiring but my partner’s expires in July and we just wanted to know if there was any knowledge around any extensions or if any other couple were also in a circumstance such as ours.
Thank you
