Documents to provide at UKVCAS

Post by vincentwalter » Wed Jul 08, 2020 10:28 am

Hi all,

I was finally able to get an appointment with UKVCAS for next week and just preparing my documents. I wasn't sure what to provide for some of the documents in the checklist:
> Proof of freedom from immigration time restrictions? Is this basically the ILR/BRP as this is another separate box?
> Proof of living in the UK for 5 years? Would that be stamps in the passport for the last 5 years? I remember when I applied for ILR, I provided proof of address for the last 5 years, is that also required?

On the portal itself, there are other optional documents (employment, finances, etc...) Is it advised to provide too even if optional? Some of the docs I don't think I will get in time for next week (e.g employment letters)

Lastly, do they take your passport at the UKVCAS like for ILR or do they just take copies?

Thanks for your help

ILR BRP card yes. Note that some people have ILR as a sticker in their passports, hence the two separate questions about the same thing.

NO. You only need your passport(s).

You do NOT need employer letters or financial evidence. Do NOT submit a whole bunch of unnecessary documents. The categories are generic and all applicants get the same. Simply upload into mandatory or 'other'.
Lastly, do they take your passport at the UKVCAS like for ILR or do they just take copies?
No they don't. They only use it for identity check. Everything is uploaded digitally.
