Naturalisation BC spouse - with 17 year old daughter

Post by sherb » Thu Aug 13, 2020 1:45 pm

Hi,

I received my ILR on 30-7-2020 (spouse of BC) and am applying online for Citizenship.

1) Can I apply for my daughter who is 17 (and will turn 18 in September )with my application ?

2) If yes - Regarding reference does she need separate references ?

Regards
Sherb

1. Yes, but only if you apply before her 18th birthday. Otherwise she has to wait 12 months on ILR. She will still be required to attend a ceremony once she turns 18 and you will be asked to pay the £80 fee before she can attend.

2. Possibly, not sure what options you get when you add a person under 18 to your application. Please note that most of us do not have sight or experience of the online forms.

Yes she needs two referees which can be the SAME as yours. But make sure one of them has to know the child in a professional capacity. For example in case if a child’s teacher provides a reference for her and yourself both.
Where the applicant is a child applying, one referee should be a professional who has engaged with the child in a professional capacity, such as a teacher, health visitor, social worker or minister of religion.
