UK Post Study work visa - is it coming from 2021 or not?

Post by QR0228 » Sun Aug 23, 2020 12:10 pm

My younger sister had an offer from a US university for this fall but she has deferred it due to Covid-19. It's also bit unclear on what the job situation will be in the US for foreigners even later because of the H1B issues. So, she wants to consider applying to the UK as well for her master and decide later which option to pick. There was a lot of news earlier about the possibility of the post study work permit being reinstituted but foreign students but now, it's a bit unclear. Does anyone know if it will be possible for those who join in 2021 to receive a post study work permit upon competing their masters degree?

PSW is coming back next year along with more student visas to foreigners. This is plainly being done to generate the currency. We all know crackdown on students &PSW from 2012 to still on by the same govt.Im pretty sure once enough students are in the same circle will start run up.UK immigration rules are untrustworthy, unpredictable& weird.Thousands of students have lost money &education due to home office falsely blamed them of cheating in English tests.Their future has been ruined.New comers are more likely to face nightmare changes & twists in rules all of a sudden.

Yes I recall the previous years. I was in Warwick in 2014 for a 2-year Master's and didn't get the PSW although the non-EU students who graduated just two years before me managed to stay back in the country. Some of them are still there and acquired ILR. In any case, my sister has decided to apply to the UK as well as Ireland along with the US and she'll finalise her plans next year once she receives admission offers. Meanwhile, we'll closely watch the situation and see if the UK government dilly-dallies on the PSW plans.

Looking on the bright side, those who instead embarking on anfractuous routes remained compliant had eventually found tier 2 sponsors and who now are a naturalized British with the wealth of degree, practical experience, settled family and own nationality.
