Tier 2 General VISA Holder - Made Redundant due to COVID

Hi Everyone,

I am seeking your help with the information required for me at these difficult times.

I am Pradeep, software engineer from India. My company raised Tier-2 General VISA was granted in February 2020. I was supposed to travel to the UK in March 2020 and could not travel due to COVID. My entry vignette has been expired and I got it renewed recently. So I have active Entry vignette visa to enter UK.

Unfortunately last month I was made redundant because of business slow down in the UK. I am currently in India and got confused what to do next.

I have below questions, appreciate if anyone help with the information:

1) Is my current Tier 2 general visa is valid after I made redundant?

2) As I am currently in India, can I come to the UK and look for other opportunities with in the UK.

3) How much time I have to find a new opportunity in the UK.

4) Can I appear interviews where the new employer is ready to provide sponsorship?

5) How can I get curtailment information, whether my company informed to Home office on my redundancy?

6) Any other websites or emails address to reach out for information?


I have tried reaching out to Corona help center UK with no luck.

Can anyone face this kind of issue, or you do you have any piece of advice for me.

1. Unlikely as the sponsor would have informed ho and withdrawn sponsorship.

2. You are likely to be refused entry to the UK and returned to India.

3. Nothing prevents you from finding an alternative sponsor from India.

4. Same answer as 3 above.

5. Unlikely you will receive anything as you haven't entered the UK or activated your tier 2 general visa.
